We were delighted to find the RHS Gold Medal on our exhibit when we arrived this morning. It represents a lot of hard work by all our staff over the past few weeks, and gains us a huge amount of publicity.

Today we had all the celebrities passing our colourful exhibit. Lots of famous people from politics, business and media, but no names for fear of a super-injunction! Her Majesty The Queen came right past our exhibit.

Another 14 hour day day for David, who was joined by Adrian today, and it looks great.

Yesterday we took our second full load of plants up to Chelsea. Today we took a third load, and started placing the plants. A few days ago we really wondered if we would have any in good enough condition, but today it all came together really well, even if it was another 14 hour day!

Today we went to Chelsea to start our build for next week. In the past we have started on Friday, but because we are being more adventurous with a larger exhibit, and a patio with steps we decided to start today.

After 3 weeks in the fridge at 3C, now it's time to get them moving and ready for next week. We have started to take the plants out, but as it has turned cooler and cloudier, lots of flowers need to speed up! So we have had to move them into a greenhouse to warm them up.

With the recent hot April weather, all our plants are flowering early, some by as much as 4-5 weeks. Left alone they will flower too soon, but we have been fortunate to be given access to coldstorage.

The night of January 6th brought loads of snow and freezing cold weather. The nursery was brought to a standstill for nearly a week, but most plants are fine.

We have just been advised that we fulfil the requirements of "Home Grown Plants" and can use their new logo. This is a bit like the Little Red Tractor that you find on your supermarket fresh produce!

Once again Millais Nurseries will be the only specialist Rhododendron grower at the prestigious London event from 19-23 May. This year we have an enlarged stand inside the Grand Pavilion (Stand number GPC/8).

Millais Nurseries have just taken delivery of a Compost Tea brewer. No we are not into any catering, but this is the way ahead for healthy plants. Compost tea is part of our green revolution to grow healthy plants with minimal use of chemicals.
