Lovely pink buds open to large trusses of sparkling white flowers. This really is a stunning plant that flowers in late May. It has excellent foliage with thick silvery indumentum on the underside of the leaves and a heavy white tomentum on the young growth (tomentum is a powdery covering that the plant produces to protect itself from sun on the top side of the leaf. It is quite lovely and sought after by rhododendron collectors. It slowly washes off during the summer when it rains). It has a neat and compact habit. Height 80cm in 10 years.
