White hose-in-hose double flowers in May with a dwarf habit. A lovely old variety, it is a fine white flowering selection but not fully hardy, so best in more sheltered locations. Height 60-75cm in 10 years.
This is one of the best 50 azaleas selected by Ernest Wilson, known as 'Wilson's 50', from Japan and introduced by him in 1918. This variety is known as Wilson No. 2, or 'Snowflake'.
