Lovely funnel-shaped orange red flowers during June-July. This is a very dwarf plant with a dense, creeping habit. An ideal plant for rockeries. Height and spread 30-40cm in 10 years.
nakaharae (or nakaharai) is a native azalea from Taiwan and is treated as a species. It has been used very successfully as parent to many of the more dwarf creeping hybrids. Seeds were first introduced in America in 1960 by R. Bovee of Oregon.
