Uncle Tom's Soft Soap
Soft soap is a natural product that has been used since ancient Egyptian times, and has been used to control insects for more than 200 years. It consists of the salts of potassium fatty acids, and is fully bio-degradable, environmentally safe, and suitable for Organic production. Use it as a hand and plant cleaner!
Soft soap can be used as a great gardener's hand cleaner straight from the bottle. Keep one to hand to clean up those grubby stains from soil and plant sap. This is a big one litre bottle, so it works out cheaper than most other hand cleaners, and it's better for your hands and the environment!
Soft soap is also great for clean and healthy plants. It kills insects by breaking down their waxy covering and causes suffocation. It is also known to reduce fungal activity by shrinking cell walls.
The suggested rate against pests is 100ml per litre, and 50ml per litre is suggested for plant fungal diseases. Do not mix with other products or apply on hot sunny days. Apply at times to allow maximum slow drying. As soap is easily washed off, repeat applications are recommended. Take care to avoid scorch especially on young foliage.
