Standards
Standard Rhododendrons were popular during the first half of the last century, and now we are finding renewed interest. We grow a limited range of Rhododendrons and Azaleas as Standards, grown on a single straight stem to form a lollipop type head. There are various options for the heights of the stems, so please refer to the individual descriptions. These are ideal for patio pots or formal situations (and better looking than a Bay tree!). They require a good stake at the time of planting to prevent any wind damage.
Evergreen Azalea Pink Spider STANDARD

(H5) Spectacular form of the Spider Azalea with masses of narrow petalled flowers, pink with a white banding in May. Narrow leaves on a small bushy plant, ideal as a patio plant, but protect from the cold as it is more tender than most evergreen azaleas. Requires moist acid soils.

Rhododendron Dufthecke Lilac INKARHO STANDARD
(H7) Lilac purple in bud, opening to lilac fragrant flowers in April/May but will fade paler, with attractive shiney leaves.

Rhododendron Dufthecke Rose INKARHO STANDARD
Available on the Inkarho rootstock! Deep pink in bud opening to attractive pale pink flowers in early May. It has fragrant flowers on a plant of neat compact growth with attractive shiney leaves.

Rhododendron Graziella STANDARD
(H6) Mid pink flowers in mid to late May. Fabulous distinctive foliage featuring amazing narrow laceolate leaves.

Rhododendron Schneekrone AGM STANDARD
A tough plant with white flowers tinged soft pink and spotted ruby red in a ball shaped truss of 12 to 17 flowers, each approximately 50mm. Flowering in May this is one of the best white yakushimanum hybrids for cold climates. Currently the size of the well-branched head is about 30cm, and it will grow to around 75cm in 10 years.
