Autumn The Perfect Time For Planting

As the temperatures start to cool and the days get slightly shorter we all need something to help cheer us up. What better way than getting out in the garden. Did you know that Autumn is the perfect planting season for Rhododendrons? The ground is still warm and there is more rainfall, the best recipe for getting your Rhododendrons off to a good start! It is always advisable to plant your Rhododendrons with a good Ericaceous compost, we use and sell Forest Gold by Bulrush and don't forget to feed them, we advise using a slow release fertiliser, this should be applied in March and again after flowering in June/July. It is worth remembering that many Rhododendrons originate from from monsoon regions of the Himalayas and used to having plenty of water during June. This is the time when flower buds are initiated for the following Spring, so by following this advice, you will reap the benefits of their beautiful blooms the year after.

We have lots of varieties of Rhododendrons and Azaleas available on the website no matter what the size of your outside space, so shake off those Winter blues, get outside, get planting and look forward to reaping the rewards in the Spring.
