The team celebrating the Royal Warrant!

David Millais of Millais Nurseries has been granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales as supplier of Rhododendrons and Magnolias.

The Nursery has been supplying plants to His Royal Highness for many years for his gardens both in England and Scotland.  We have been propagating and contract growing a wide range of plants for his estates in close liaison with his Head Gardener.  David said “I am delighted to have been granted the Royal Warrant from His Royal Highness to recognize the quality of our plants. It has been our pleasure to propagate his favourite plants which he could not obtain elsewhere To receive the Warrant is a great honour and the Royal endorsement of our expertise and service is wonderful”.

We grow one of the widest ranges of Rhododendrons in the world and have an unparalleled experience of the genus, propagating over 35,000 plants a year.  With four consecutive RHS Chelsea gold medals in recent years, we supply keen gardeners, large estates, botanic gardens, arboretums and specialist garden centres throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.  We track down rare species from the Himalayas and new hybrids from around the world to offer a range second to none.  We are actively involved with the propagation of rare plants on the Red List of endangered plants helping to preserve them for future generations.  And we also grow our plants with the best environmental practices, using minimal chemicals and lots of organic products such as compost tea with beneficial microbial and fungal activities, garlic barriers, citrus seed soil, seaweed, plant tonics and nematodes.  David has a passion for the environment and says “We are constantly looking for innovative ways to minimize the use of chemicals and alongside our trials to reduce the peat used in our compost mix, we continue to lead the industry minimizing our impact on the environment.  We share His Royal Highnesses passion for the environment and are delighted that we have met his exacting standards”.
