Distinctive deeper purplish lavender flowers with crimson spots and a large basal blotch appear in April. This is a selected clone from the famous Borde Hill Gardens in Sussex, where Col. Stephenson-Clarke collected some of the best species available. It has interesting deeply veined leaves, with yellow to grey woolly indumentum on the undersides. Height 150cm in 10 years.
