Choice Plants
Throughout the year, we stock an extensive and diverse range of choice plants that complement rhododendrons beautifully. Our aim is to maintain a collection that is not only interesting but also unique to us.
Our collection includes a variety of shrubs and trees. We carefully select each plant for its ability to thrive in similar growing conditions, providing a harmonious and eye-catching display.
Cornus florida
(H5) Small tree or elegant shrub. Spectacular white bracts on erect stalks cover the spreading branches in the summer. These are followed by strawberry like edible fruit in the autumn. The leaves have beautiful artistic autumn colours of bronze and crimson. Height 200-400cm in 10 years. Requires moist well drained acid soil.
Cornus kousa 'China Girl' AGM
The 12 litre plants sit at approximaltey 160-175cm not including the pot. They will come via Parcel Force on a 48 hour delivery due to their height or they can be collected directly from the nursery.
A choice strong growing 'dogwood', with a profusion of lovely white flower bracts in June. Excellent autumn colours. Best in full sun. Height 2 - 4 metres in 10 years. Grow in acid or neutral soils.
Cornus sanguinea 'Midwinter Fire'
(H5) A choice 'dogwood', forming a large spreading shrub. Orange-red & yellow young shoots with white flowers in the Summer. Bright coloured stems in the Winter. Height 200-400cm in 10 years. Moist acid or neutral soils.
Hamamelis Arnold Promise
Large fragrant bright yellow spider-like flowers, which are frost hardy in winter, January to March. This Witch Hazel gives lovely autumn foliage colours of reds and yellows. Height 150-175cm in 10 years. Best in an open position.

(H5) 'Orange Beauty' is a robust shrub reaching 3m tall and 4m wide, in 10-20 years, featuring broadly elliptic leaves that shift from yellowish green with maroon-purple flushes to dark green, then yellow and orange in autumn. Hamamelis intermedia Rubin AGM
(H5) A rounded, upright deciduous shrub or small tree with wrinkled, oval green leaves that turn yellow and orange in autumn. It produces lightly scented, ruby-red flowers with narrow, crimped petals on bare branches in late winter and early spring. Easy to grow in an open but unexposed site. Requires moist but well-drained acid or neutral soil. 2.5-4m heigh in 10-20 years.

(H5) A fairly strong growing, upright, bushy shrub reaching 2.5m-4m heigh in 10-20 years, with rounded leaves (up to 16cm) that shift from medium green to dark green, then to yellow-orange-red in autumn. A strongly fastigiate form of 'Sweet Gum' selected by nurseryman Don Shadow from a plant growing in a railroad siding in Tenessee. Forms an excellent plant for small gardens, with a rich burgundy autumn leaf colour. Height 3 metres in 10 years. Prefers moist acid soils.
